Troubleshooting

Find the most common problems you could encounter with the VoiceTracer in the following table. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, contact the supporting Philips partner you purchased the device from.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the recording situation you may need to change the recording settings: Use the Lecture scene when you are further away from the source and Meeting when you are close.

To change the recording settings:

  1. Press the Right function button to open the settings.

  2. Press the Up/Down buttons and select Scene, then press the Record button to confirm your selection.

  3. Press the Up/Down buttons to select the desired Scene, then press the Record button to confirm your selection.

  4. Press the Back button to return to the recording screen.

Caution

  • Before you update the firmware, make sure that your device has at least 30% battery power left. This helps to prevent the power supply being interrupted during the update.

  • Don’t disconnect the USB cable from the device while you are transferring files. This might cause data loss.

  1. Connect the device to the computer via the supplied USB cable.

    X A charging battery icon appears on the screen and the Record/Status LED flashes orange for a few seconds.

  2. Download the firmware update file for your model from the product website www.voicetracer.com/help.

  3. Unzip the firmware update file you downloaded from the product website.

  4. Open Windows Explorer on a Windows computer, or open Finder on a Mac computer.

  5. Double-click the VoiceTracer drive.

    X The content of your VoiceTracer is displayed in a new window.

  6. Copy the firmware update file to the root directory of the device.

    X During this process, the Record/Status LED flashes orange. When the process is complete, the Record/Status LED stops flashing.

  7. Disconnect the device from the computer.

    X The firmware is automatically updated.

    X The Firmware update window is displayed. When the update is complete, the device will automatically switch off.

The VoiceTrace has a USB type-C port.

Depending on the available port on your computer, you can use the supplied USB type-C to type-A cable. Almost all computers have a USB type-A port.

If you have a USB type-C port, as is the the case on a Surface or MacBook, you need to use a USB type-C to type-C cable, or alternatively you can use a USB-C adapter.

When you connect your VoiceTracer to a computer the device is charged. It also establishes a mass storage connection, and you can transfer files. If you want to record during the charging process, you need to hold the Record button for 2 seconds.

Note

This terminates the mass storage connection to the computer, and you can no longer transfer files.

If you should encounter problems with your device software, for example, the software freezes, the device works slowly or apps don’t respond, you can reset your device and restart it.

  1. Press and hold the reset button on the right side of your device by using a small, pointed object, for example, a paper clip.

  2. To restart the device, slide and hold the Power switch on the right side of the device downwards for three seconds.

Note

Your data won’t be deleted and is still available after resetting the VoiceTracer.

No, the DVT2110 doesn't have a microphone input.

Try one of the following:

  • If you are using a USB hub, connect the VoiceTracer directly to a USB port on your computer without using a hub.

  • Reboot your computer.

  • Connect the VoiceTracer to a different USB port on your computer.

  • Connect the VoiceTracer to a different computer.

  • Restart your VoiceTracer.

Yes, you can use your VoiceTracer as a USB mass storage to conveniently store, back up and move files.

Connect the device to a computer with a USB cable. Your recorder will automatically be recognized as a mass storage device. You don’t need to install any software.

You can delete individual files from your device.

  1. In stop mode or playback mode, press the Right function button VoiceTracer settings icon to open the settings panel.

  2. Press the Up/Down buttons to navigate to Delete and then press the Record button to confirm your selection.

The VoiceTracer supports the following recording formats:

  • MPEG1 layer 3 (MP3)

  • PCM (WAV)

This is a battery saving feature, which can be changed in the settings menu of your VoiceTracer.

Go to All settings > Device settings > Auto off.

You can either change the time period for the device to switch off automatically or turn this feature off entirely.

You may activated a filter in the playback settings. To change this:

  1. In stop mode, press the File list button.

  2. Press the Left function button VoiceTracer folder icon to open the folder panel.

  3. Press the Up/Down buttons to select All and then press the Record button to confirm your selection.
